Flooding in the Gully

Flood 1.JPG

We had a big day yesterday with planting in the gully below the Bilsthorpe Lane entrance way. This gully like all gullies is affected by a heavy rainfall. Over night the rain was very heavy and over quite a long period which resulted in the Mangaharakeke stream bursting its banks over night, a significant number of the new plants are covered by the flood waters.

The high water levels covered a high percentage of the plants. We will now wait until the water recedes to inspect the area . All the plants had pegs installed with them, these are evident in the pictures. Thankfully there are also large number of plants which are above the high water line.
