Growth in the Gully

Since we planted our first native trees in the Bilsthorpe gully we have been quietly satisfied with the fantastic results.  We have had a better than 90% strike rate in stage A and B with some of these native plants now reaching to four meters in height. Over the more recent months with our stage C planting programme we have seen a phenomenal amount of growth in the gully of both our new native plantings and the inevitable weeds. In these hotter days of summer, the more established plants have sufficient ground cover and root depth to survive. Our more recent plantings need that extra care with good moisture management and constant checking. Although unsightly and a little annoying to see, the weeds and grass growth help enormously for the plant survival rates in the dryer months of the year.
